Travel as a spiritual experience

family travel
Travel is a gateway to something greater. It is a door to our inner selves that reveals itself to us when we step away from our
habits and customs and experience new and greater things. We don’t need to relinquish our personalities or religions or likes/dislikes,
but we need to challenge them, and in doing so a unique opportunity presents itself. Barriers that once existed between us and others fade as we begin to grasp the complexity of this world in which we live.
And yet, despite this complexity there is a pervasive sense of similarity.
We aren’t so different after all!!
One can read about new cultures and learn much from one’s research, but actually hopping on a train, plane, or boat
and going to the country of one’s interest and soaking up all that one experiences is the key to learning about life itself.
Truly.
That is not to say we cannot experience truth in our present environments. BUT if we have a certain prejudice or ignorance,
it’s not going to happen very quickly. Or easily. If we have too many self made barriers, we need to take them down. And because travel can challenge us in many respects, it can help us on our quest to dismantle what we have put in the way.
Life itself is a journey, and it has a time limit. We are ALL explorers here, in an relatively unknown territory. This is an adventure we share together, no matter where we live or what colour our skin is.

  1. Beautiful stuff….

  2. Thank you, Mark Twain. If more people traveled, there would be less hatred.

  3. Lovely! Thanks for the inspiration on a rainy Monday. :)
