I am seriously dying to be in Scotland already…( just saying)

Fort William
For the last few months I have had complete writer’s block.
On top of that, I have been absolutely dying to be in Scotland.
In fact I have been trying to relocate us to Scotland since April…….
It’s been very frustrating, on a number of fronts. It’s like every time we are almost there, we hit a road block.
And to be frank, it’s pissing me off.
It’s not that I don’t love Phuket ( I do!)
It’s that there are certain things we really want to have, and that are not available here.
I’ve mentioned before that having a close community is one of them.
That is totally absent here among foreigners and even the Moon guide to relocating to Thailand
states that making friends in Phuket is a challenge.
I’ve interviewed different foreigners who have lived here between 5 and 10 years, and they all say the same thing:
it took them a long time to find kindred spirits.
I’m not sure why that is.
I am very grateful for the time I have had here, for the people I have met.
For the experiences we have had!!
But we have been ready to move on for some time now.
We will truly miss the kind folks we have met on the island, Thai and farang alike.
We know we will keep in touch with you all!!
One of the things that has held us back the most was Billy’s job.
As much of a blessings as it was ( it provided us with stability for a year, and a visa)
it held us back from spending time together as a family, and from traveling as much as we wanted.
6 days a week is a long time to work, especially at a challenging job filled with kids who
don’t want to be taught and have no interest in listening.
It was a learning experience from him, and we loved the owners of the school, as well as the other teachers.
( we love you Nick, Shelly and Richard!!)
But it has totally turned Billy off of teaching ESL again…..
But back to Scotland…….
It won’t be long til we are there, and we can’t wait!!
I’m not sure what lies ahead but we have come so far in our goals!
Our main focal point was starting a freedom business, working from home.
This coupled with living simply, being immersed in nature.
Our focus for 2013 will be to spend much more time together as a family,
to help grow the local economy where we live and increase tourism there,
and to expand!
Billy’s job is finished in I believe a week.
He is just ecstatic!!!
Even though we will be busy packing, wrapping up loose ends that keep popping up all over the place….
we are delighted by our new adventure.
I look forward to sharing it with you!!!

  1. Good luck! It can be so hard to find a place to fit in on the road, can’t it?

  2. Oh how I wish I would’ve known you earlier. I have a friend who moved to Phuket last year and would’ve love to meet up with other expats. But how exciting for y’all to be moving to Scotland soon!!
